CALIPSO International Symposium Saint Malo 2024

  • AUTHOR REGISTRATION

The participation will be free of charge (thanks to the support from CNES and NASA) but every attendee must be registered before May 20, 2024. No on-site registrations will be accepted.
  • LIST OF SESSION THEMES

We welcome all manner of submissions related to the application of space based lidar systems as a stand-alone instrument or in combination with other sensors such as CloudSat and/or MODIS for better understanding aerosol and cloud processes.   Example topics/themes include the following:

Using Spaceborne Aerosol/Cloud Lidar Observations, what have we learned about...
    1. Cloud processes, development and lifetime
    2. Cloud radiative forcing and feedbacks and an assessment of current modeling capabilities of these processes
    3. Aerosol sources, transport and radiative forcing and their possible influence on local circulations
    4. Air Quality & extreme dust, air pollution or smoke episodes
    5. Stratospheric aerosols, volcanic ash, and polar stratospheric clouds
    6. Trends and regional changes to aerosol and/or cloud distributions and their feedbacks to the climate system
    7. AI for enhanced interpretations of lidar observations
    8. Benefits to society from spaceborne lidar observations - e.g., enhanced weather and air quality forecasting skill with improved model physics or gained through improved insight into passive satellite observations of clouds
    9. Methods, algorithms, or new data products (only for posters)
    10. Other topics that reveal new insight into the Earth System from space-based lidars

... and what challenges remain today?
